WHY WE'RE DOING IT
Team Woods is back for 2025. After travelling Australia and readjusting to life back at home. We are back surfing everyday of February to raise funds for cancer research and awareness.
We have experienced the sadness and loss of loved ones to cancer. An all too common occurrence. In remembering them we want to do our bit.
The sad reality is that one in two of us will be affected by cancer in our lifetime. That’s a pretty big statistic. The good news is that we can make a tangible impact on how we treat cancer by contributing to innovative cancer research that benefits us all.
It only takes a minute to donate and anything you can give (no matter how big or small) will go a long way to helping people with cancer and their families.

In honour of Kate’s mum - Jen Minter
Tuesday 25th FebRiley is stepping up and surfing everyday this February to raise money for cancer research. We first started doing SurFebruary three years ago when my mum had been diagnosed with neuro endocrine cancer. It now makes me think about her every year. Neuroendocrine cancer is a less common form of cancer and can be asymptomatic. Mum did not present with any symptoms and by the time she was diagnosed her prognosis was not great. During her course of treatments she had some positive results and while on immunotherapy the tumours even shrank. Although this was short lived it gave her some time to do the things she loved and visit those she loved and it gave us time to show her how much we loved her. We lost mum 6 months after our first SurFebruary, but I still remember the relief of thinking that a form of treatment was working.
Cancer is crap and it takes away those we love. By raising money for cancer research we are helping to not only find cures, but preventative treatment and different treatments that can prolong and promote a better quality of life.
So although we love surfing, we also love feeling like we are helping to prevent this from happening to others. So please get behind Riley’s Surf February and donate to Chris O’Brien Lifehouse
