WHY I'M DOING IT
Not many people know this but in early 2022 my mum was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer which resulted in her having to get some of her pancreas removed and some pretty heavy radiation. For our family is was one of the most scariest times and we were biting at our nails everyday waiting for her test results to come back, Fast forward 6 months down the track and the results came back that she beat the cancer but has to have cancer screenings every month to see if it’s at bay and not spreading around her body so as you could imagine this one hits pretty close to home!
Each day in February I've decided im hitting the water for SurFebruary and raising funds for cancer research at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse.
The reality is that one in two of us will be affected by cancer in our lifetime. That’s a pretty big statistic. The good news is that we can make a tangible impact on how we treat cancer by contributing to innovative cancer research that benefits us all.
