WHY I'M DOING IT

Each day in February I'm hitting the water for SurFebruary and raising funds for cancer research at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse.

The reality is that one in two of us will be affected by cancer in our lifetime. That’s a pretty big statistic. The good news is that we can make a tangible impact on how we treat cancer by contributing to innovative cancer research that benefits us all.

It only takes a minute to donate and anything you can give (no matter how big or small) will go a long way to helping people with cancer and their families.

Thank you, I really appreciate your support.

See you in the water!

My Updates

My surf Feb so far

Sunday 25th Feb
Hey guys I’m so ecstatic about all the amazing donations. Raising money for cancer is so good. Even though getting up early in the morning is hard I’m sure it’s nothing compared to cancer so that’s why I’ve been helping from 2021-2024 for those in need. My friend unfortunately got cancer and every donation and every wave counts for them. Thank you guys all so much for donating. Only a few days left.

Day 14

Thursday 15th Feb
Going well with the early mornings. Four years of doing SurFebruary and this feels like the easiest (so far.)
Dad took my board out of the car to drop our visitors at the airport and forgot to put it back in the boot of the car.
So we woke up early and drove to the beach, only to realise we had no board. I swam and body surfed some waves to meet my commitment to surf a wave each day.
It was a little disappointing cause today was such a beautiful morning and perfect waves for catching on my board, after bad weather last week!

Day 6

Tuesday 6th Feb
Donations continue to flood in like this rain today, which I am very grateful for (the donations, not the rain.) I’ve nearly achieved my $1000 target in the first week.
This morning was dark and raining when I woke up. All my school clothes, books, lunch and bag was prepared the night before but last week I forgot to take my lunch to school so I am triple checking now before I head out the door.
The rain was pouring when we arrived at the beach and I didn’t want to get cold and wet but it’s only for the month of Feb and I went out to catch the one wave I needed to stay true to my pledge.  This is my fourth year of SurFebruary and I have raised over $5000 in total which makes me proud that I can help people with cancer.

4th Feb 2024

Sunday 4th Feb
Donations coming in thick and fast. I am very grateful for all the donations. Yesterday the surf was pumping. It was so big that I didn’t want to catch broken waves at Elouera. We decided to check out the surf at Oak Park. It was a little smaller down there. I didn’t stay in for very long because it was a bit dangerous but it meant that I kept my promise to surf a wave each day in February. A girl from my school last year was diagnosed with cancer in the school holidays. This is what keeps me motivated to keep raising money.
