WHY I'M DOING IT
Each day in February I'm hitting the water for SurFebruary and raising funds for cancer research at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse.
The reality is we all know someone if not yourself who has been affected by cancer of some sort. One in two of us will be affected by cancer in our lifetime.
In July 2021 one of my good friends Adam Stacey was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel and lung cancer at just 30 years old. Unfortunately after a long hard battle in December 2024 he lost his battle with Cancer at just 33 years young. He was a fighter every day and gave everything to help everyone else even in his worst times he was always there for everyone.
My dad was also diagnosed with cancer when I was younger and we watched him fight multiple battles with cancer over multiple years to be here today. To watch his grand kids and kids grow up.
So this Feb I will be getting in the water every day be it the pool, the ocean, for a swim, on a surfboard or simply an icebath. Something that will challenge me every day the same way my hero's have challenged themselves every day.
It only takes a minute to donate and anything you can give (no matter how big or small) will go a long way to helping people with cancer and their families.
Thank you, I really appreciate your support.
See you in the water!
